Dear EGEC Members,
It is with great sadness that we announce you the passing of our EGEC member Robert Gavriliuc, on Thursday 1st December 2022.
He was member of EGEC since 2005 with the Romanian Geoexchange Society, Professor at the Technical University of Bucharest and member of the EGEC Board from 2013 to 2022.
He was always there to encourage the development of geothermal and to help all of us.
In the words of Miklos Antics, EGEC President: “By the sudden pass away of prof dr Robert Gavriliuc EGEC lost one of its biggest enthusiasts, former Board member, who pioneered and fostered many shallow geothermal projects and European cooperation to unleash the potential of geothermal energy in Romania and in Europe. Robert was a great engineer, professor, a restless activist, President of the Romanian Geoexchange Society, and a very good friend. Our sincere condolences are going to his family and friends.”
Philippe Dumas, EGEC secretary general “More than a member, we loss a friend. He always was a warm and excellent expert. Robert was one of the leading profiles in geothermal heat pumps for buildings in Europe, especially for standards, cooling and training! He will be greatly missed and remembered.”
Doinita – Iuliana Cucueteanu, Vice-president RGS “Since June 2012, for over 10 years, Robert has been the President of RGS, and for me a colleague on whom I relied without hesitation. Hardworking, modest, patient, polite, kind, understanding, diplomatic, Robert was the work partner anyone would want”.
